Business plan development, reviews & upgrades for start-ups, or for companies looking to expand and are seeking additional sources of funding. Who better to help you with your business plan than someone who understands all of the technical aspects of your industry, as well as the regulations, and other nuances specific to it.
As a fellow business owner who has been consulting to many other small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) since 1999, the president of ICS Inc. is often asked for business-related advice, whether it be in risk management, intellectual property, company marketing, brand advertising, employee recruitment, training & retention, or pricing strategies. Prior to starting up ICS Inc., he took an intensive 6-month course on setting up and running a small small business. The final project culminated in the development of an extensive business plan. We also do annual reviews & revisions to our technology-based business plan yearly, since 1999. As ICS Inc. is routinely contracted to develop or critique business plans for clients as a third-party unbiased point of view. We also review the plan from a Risk Management perspective.
By the time we are done all of the research and working with your accountant (or bookkeeper), then compiling all of the the pertinent information, the technical business plan is 40-60 pages in length, plus multiple spreadsheets / graphs / charts in the appendix.
A couple of examples of successful technical business plans developed by ICS Inc. from scratch include:
- A start-up commercial producer of cannabis – medical marijuana under the ACMPR-MMPR regulations, which is also heavily focused in research & development (R&D), including producing refined cannabis extracts for human clinical trials to treat epilepsy. The business plan was developed to include a lot of unique ideas relating to Intellectual Property (IP) / Proprietary Techniques. Their goal for the business plan was to present it to potential Angel Investors & Venture Capitalists with the goal of raising at least $3 million. They were successful 🙂
- An established importer & distributor of an unique Natural Health Product (NHP) had limited sales and was having troubles getting into the larger chains. They were also finding it difficult to compete on price point. We took their 5-page business plan, did all the research and flushed-out all the details into a 35-page plan. This included all new marketing & advertizing strategies which could be set up to evaluate the Return on Investment (ROI) for each strategy. We also found him a Canadian contract manufacturer which helped reduce this cost of goods sold (COGS). The company has roughly tripled its annual revenues, while costs have been reduced at the same time. Overall, much higher profit margins.
